Investigating the subject of family, time and space, my photography became a self-exploration that questions individuality and identity of women who instinctively execute the responsibilities of motherhood and how the absence of the spouse/partner amplifies the already challenging role. Inspired from 15 years of marriage that are strewed by multiple deployments and military related trips, these images represent a fraction of the special moments, daily challenges, and mental states experienced during separation. Exploration of my identity within the maternal role overpowered the absence of my husband and led to an empathetic connection to others who perform this instinctive role without question and with unconditional love.
